For example, data can be collected in several ways:  by mail, by telephone, in-person, and via the Internet.  Furthermore respondents can be recruited to participate in this research in a variety of ways: totally at random, randomly from passers-by at a shopping center, randomly from telephone directories, from client lists, from subscription and syndicated lists (list brokers), etc.  D.
